Activities

Fly fishing

Field and Stream is well known for its good fishing.  The farm has two dams (Meike’s Mere and Matuka Dam), a weir (Williams Favourite) and 4 km of the Witpoort River on the southern end of the farm for fishing.  Both Rainbow and Brown Trout can be caught at any of these sites.  We urge visitors not to keep any of the Brown Trout, and rather practice Catch and Release after a great fight and a photo for the memories.

Walking

The farm offers beautiful walks along its streams, and along the farm tracks that cross the farm.  Walking from the accommodation units, the topography is relatively gentle, but walking up to Winger’s Bush Bar and Clay Pigeon Shooting Range or down to the Witpoort River is a lot more challenging.

Mountain biking

As for walking, the farm has a number of farm tracks that are ideal for mountain biking.  In addition, there are a number of recommended mountain biking routes around Dullstroom, all of which can be accessed from Field and Stream.

Field and Stream Clay Pigeon Shooting Range

At the top end of the farm, one will find the Field and Stream Clay Pigeon Shooting Range.  It is open most Saturday’s from 10 am to around 5 pm, but will open longer or on additional days through prior arrangement.  It is an ideal venue for bachelor parties, family outings or for team building.

Horse riding

Although not available on the farm, horse riding trails can be reached within 15 km of the farm

Tonteldoos

A mere 10 km further down the Tonteldoos road from Field and Stream is the tiny town of Tonteldoos.  It is well known locally for its cheese tasting and local pub, with good food and a great atmosphere.

Dullstroom

Dullstroom is 9 km from Field and Stream.  The town is well known for its restaurants, gift shops and pubs.  There are also a number of boutiques and day spas ready to welcome and pamper.
